Carissa Lawson is the morning news anchor at News 12 New Jersey. She is a New York City native who grew up in Queens. Lawson is a proud graduate of New York University with a degree in broadcast journalism. Lawson left the greater New York area after college graduation to pursue her broadcasting career with a dream of someday returning. She spent nearly a decade working her way up the ranks in North Carolina. She then went on to anchor the evening news at the CBS affiliate in Louisville, Kentucky, before making her way back to the Northeast with an exciting stint at CBS News as a freelance correspondent in New York City. During that time, she accomplished three major things all at once: She moved to a different state, had her first child and started a brand-new job! She tells people the experience has taught her you can do just about anything with prayer and perseverance.Lawson has won an Associated Press Award for feature reporting.
